The Culture & Arts experience is designed to immerse travellers in the stories, creativity, and heritage of Gauteng and South Africa. The Gauteng region offers a rich cultural landscape shaped by its history, creative energy, and evolving urban identity. From the story of gold that built Johannesburg to contemporary art spaces, performance venues, and cultural institutions, the region provides a layered and engaging cultural experience.
This experience offers a balanced perspective of both past and present, while creating opportunities to engage with local narratives and creative spaces.
Cultural exploration begins in Johannesburg, where guided city tours introduce the story of Egoli (the City of Gold) through key landmarks, museums, and cultural hubs, enriched by storytelling that brings the experience to life.
This continues with visits to the Apartheid Museum and Soweto, Hector Pieterson museum and Mandela House grounding the experience in South Africa’s historical context. Time in Pretoria brings a different perspective to the South Africa cultural foundation, with visits to Freedom Park, the Voortrekker Monument, and the Union Buildings, complemented by opportunities to engage with contemporary creative spaces such as the Market Theatre or curated artistic sessions.
The trip also includes a day in Hartbeespoort, featuring the Ann van Dyk cheetah sanctuary and Lesedi Cultural Village, as well as exploration of the Cradle of Humankind and Sterkfontein Caves, adding a deeper historical and anthropological dimension.
The extended format allows travellers to spend more time in selected cultural spaces, include additional performances or creative experiences, or adjust the pace to explore areas of interest more fully.
Note: Optional activities such as attending specific cultural, artistic or sports events can be arranged on demand depending on ticket availability and travel periods.
Please note that many outdoor activities are weather-dependent. Rainy conditions may affect planned experiences and require adjustments to the itinerary. This is particularly relevant during the period from November to March, when weather conditions can limit outdoor activity options.
